The Hubby has successfully climbed to the top of Mount Kinabalu, 4,095m above sea level. Before this I actually thought that Mount Kinabalu is, err, biasa-biasa je. Like, why is it such a big deal..? But after hearing first hand experience from The Hubby (who also selama ni mountain biking berpuluh-puluh kilometer naik turun bukit dalam hutan..and also motocross sampai tunggang terbalik jatuh dalam hutan)..I respect & salute everyone who have went up there!
Hubby & 8 others in his group started hiking early Saturday morning, 10th December 2011. They spent the night at Laban Rata that night before doing the 'summit push' at 3.00am Sunday morning 11th December 2011. From Laban Rata onwards, only 4 (including Hubby) went for the summit push. The rest gave up due to injury or due to the cold i.e not well prepared in terms of equipment & clothing (Hubby had 6 layers on!). It was darn cold, with howling winds around 100km/h. Tengok la gambar dia kat peak, bengkak2 muka macam winter kat U.S. Thank God he did a lot of research prior to the trip.
So he asked when do I want to go up there? Hmmm. Not that keen on hiking now, though. Would want to concentrate on running, still. I've set bigger goals for 2012..so I must walk the talk. And honestly, I feel scared thinking about those 'running goals'. But as Hubby said, "in life, there must be progress."
Anyway, last weekend I ran my 6th 10km. It was in Cyberjaya, the Rakan Muda Run. Actually I was 'running escort' to a friend, Aina, doing her first 10km. So I followed her pace, with the occasional "don't stop yet, let's run to the water station there" and also the "only 1km more...kamon kamon 700m je lagiii". Hehehee..
Aina, Hanim & me. Hanim is the 'founder of Kraziraner' hehheh..she ran in only 54 minutes. ONLY. Yes, crazy runner.
Timing was not too shabby, 1 hour 18 minutes. Aina nye first 10km, okay jugak tu! Aina asked me how I knew Hanim. I answered, "from Twitter."
Morale of the story: There are a lot of good things that come out of these social networking platforms..as long as we put it to good use.
Now back to the rest of the story:
I didn't feel too tired during the run, considering that I slept at 1.00am the night before. Mengopi sekejap dengan guys & gals from my ol' school, MRSM Jasin! We all know when you meet old friends, there's no such meaning as "okay SEKEJAP je I join okay!".
After the run I straight went to work, continuing on the 7 engagement hantaran which were to be collected on that same day. Nak bawak ke Brunei semua tu so I had to design the hantaran with the thought that semua tu nak kena naik kapalterbang..
*photos of these and another recent order are in AZ Gift Baskets' Facebook :) *
I just realized that I'm typing all this on my BlackBerry. And my fingers are not as slim as before. Sakit mata sikit-sikit jugak ni.
So that's all lah for now :)

hats off to u both..very active:)
the timing 1hr 18 was really goood!!esp for ur fren who was the first timer!
that is my best timing..lari asyik tak dpt nak improved..almost give up dah:(
Don't give up don't give up! Timing kadang2 bagus kadang2 kurang bagus sebab route lain2..I think this was maybe about 9.77km (according to Hanim's Garmin superwatch yg ikut satelite). And the route wasn't as challenging as SCKLM..
Salam tu Budak Jasin from an ex-MRSM Kem Terendak! ;p
Wow, hubby and wife very the active gitu.
Came from ScreamingMommy'sblog. So nice to read fellow mommies running escapades. :)
Hi Lina! Wow your running escapades are much much more interesting than mine :)
My sister no. 3 went to MRSM Terendak (SPM'98), my sis no. 4 masuk sana masa form 4 (SPM2000). Many thought I was from there too, ye la anak askar kan hehheh but we stayed there around early 90s and when I came back after my degree. I was actually born there so Kem Terendak (and Kem Sungai Udang of course) are always close to my heart :)
Your Sis my junior lah. I was there 91-92. ^^
