This is YOUR Life

I don't read Tessie Lim's 'Get A Life' column every Sunday..but today I was drawn to read it till the end. *yes I have this sick habit of reading things halfway..that's why my SPM aggregate was 21*

Her article today is entitled Mirror, Mirror on The WallBoldBold (New Sunday Times, Life & Times page 6). It starts with:

"If you want to be deeply unhappy, personalize everything. Make everything about you and then let it permeate all areas of your life."
To me, we're humans and definitely can't be positively upbeat and happy 24/7. We have down days, happy days. Yes once in a while I do personalize things, think that the world evolves around me..and sadly, yes, I let it affect certain aspects of my life. But alhamdulillah, I don't get too carried away with it and every time I manage to 'save' myself. And I must thank family and friends for this..oh and good articles like Tessie Lim's also. Sometimes a good movie does the trick, too :P

Look at your life. Like it or not, it's living proof of your habituated beliefs. Your life is a testimony of what you believe is important..and what's not. We attract what we believe. We attract what we are.
I always believe in the Law of Attraction. The article says that "if you're looking for ways to be offended, you won't be disappointed!". We do this, well at least once in a while..but why? Is this a way for us to find excitement in our lives (what's so exciting about sadness and angriness anyway?). I do have blunders here and there..which got me thinking, my life is good as it is..why in the world do I need to invite complications in it? Look at the poster, it says Life is Simple. We put in effort to achieve what we want to get, or want to have. But we also do need to realize that the results may not come instantly. Look how long it takes for a tree to grow, and how much water & fertilizer needed for that. Look how long contestants of The Biggest Loser takes to lose weight and be fit..and the strenuous exercises and extremely disciplined lifestyle they had to opt for.

If success matters....as entrepreneurs, it's always about the customer. Why? They put food on your table and they allow you to explore your potential!
At AZ Gift Baskets, it's always about the customer's best interest. We try do things according to their budget and most importantly, we try to follow what they already have in mind. If not for them, I would never ever know that I have a 'creative streak' inside of me. If not for my customers' belief in me, I would never thought that I could position gift baskets as an all year round gift and not only for festive seasons. If not for them, I would have never thought that AZ Gift Baskets would be around for 7 years.

Seek to increase, not limit choices.
I'm sure we all try to do this, witItalichin our capabilities. I myself feel good for all the good people that I've befriended over the years..with some help from blogging, Facebook and Twitter of course :P. And I've tried new things, conquered old fears, helped friends to change and help them try new things...we all have choices and only we know which ones to take. Forget what others may think. As long as it's for our own betterment :)

If I accept that people make the best choices that are open to them, what else would it take for me to appreciate things just as they are?
Sometimes I think that the decisions and choices made by others are selfish, they do that just because they think of how THEY feel, never considering about what I feel. That's when all those (as mentioned in the article), "What have I done to offend them? How dare they make me feel so unimportant? I don't deserve this!" come to mind. This brings us back to what was mentioned earlier - why am I making this everything about ME?

I am not perfect..but I try to improve and correct whatever mistakes that I've made.
I am not as strong as some may see me..but I try to do whatever I can within my strength.
I might forget to say my thanks sometimes..but I am forever grateful that Allah s.w.t never cease to give me chances and opportunities for me to realize my mistakes and do something about it.

The writer mentioned about The Beatles' song, Let It Be. When you 'let it be', I believe you'll achieve (supposedly) inner calm and peace. But if there's still that lil something bugging you..then don't let it be.

Maybe you should do something about it first.

what a great entry. an eye opener.. sometimes memang kena redha dan pasrah sis. most of the time, i'll take things as hikmah. so we wont leave under pressure and calm in everything we do ;)

Exactly, Fathin. Everything happens for a reason. Mula2 memang kita tak nampak..tapi lama2 (kadang2 memang lama ahakss) selalunya kita bersyukur. Over time, we may be able to condition ourselves into better handling whatever difficult situations that may come our way.
Apa2 pun, alhamdulillah :)
