Izzo - The Unbreakable..and The Baker

I blogged about Izzo The Unbreakable, about 2 years ago. My second child, who will be turning 9 next month, was called The Unbreakable by my dad. He used to get into many mini accidents here and there. Like:

1) Terkena minyak panas when he was barely 2 years old (I think the scars are still on his arm).
2) Fell and chin had to be stitched, not even 3 years old.
3) Sat in front passenger seat with my mom (non-moving car) and bobbed up and down till head hit the windscreen (glass cracked, his head was okay). Also around 3 years old.

And some other smaller accidents which I don't remember.

Izzo likes outdoor activities. Even before he was 2 years old, he would just run and jump into the kiddie pool when we go swimming. *mak bapak kena alert kalau dapat anak-anak sebegini*. When we went on this cruise ship trip once, Izzo just ran into this jacuzzi-like pool and jumped. So, naturally, his Papa will jump after him lah because of course, Izzo didn't know how to swim yet. Some time after that, when he joined the other family members on a snorkeling trip in Pulau Redang, he was a like a water baby, a floater. Imagine a 3yo++ boy, wearing a t-shirt & pelampung, swimming trunk nowhere in sight (tertanggal kot ke apa), jumping into the sea. Rugi nya tak ambik gambar masa tu.

Nasib baik gambar kat Tasik Kenyir ni ada. He was 5 years old here:

Sometimes he follows The Papa on short motocross trips. At one time, he had a small scrambler. But some moron stole it last year.

(need to tell him this is NOT the way to catch tadpoles)

Apart from all those 'rough' activities, who would have thought that Izzo also loves to bake. He started last year, experimenting with cupcakes. I bought him a kid's cupcake recipe book..sedap-sedap jugak resipi kat situ. But he wanted to look for recipes on his own. So he googled and youtube-ed cake recipes a lot. Then he started baking cakes instead. Some were fabulous, some had to end up in the tong sampah.

Then he went on to cookies. Tapi guna premix la. Boleh tahan jugak.

Izzo is still in the kitchen now, probably dusting some sugar on the doughnuts he made. Armed with an iPad which played 'how to make doughnuts' in the kitchen, he measured, mixed, kneaded, fried..all by himself. Walaupun kali ni donut dia macam tak berapa jadi, dough macam lembik sikit..but hey, he made it from scratch and that's what I call EFFORT.

(I am not a baker so I have no idea why the dough turned out like that this time)

As usual, he'll wash everything up. If it's a cake that he's making, he'll even boil some water to pour over all those bowls or spatulas used to mix the cake batter. Sometimes he'll mop the kitchen floor, too.

My youngest sister once ordered vanilla cupcakes from Izzo. And of course my parents, my sisters and BILs (also a neighbour) have all tasted his cakes. Yang menjadi la. Yang macam tak jadi, Izzo buang dalam tong sampah. :P

Some girls are already impressed by his interest in baking. I'm just imagining how he'll be like when he's a teenager - maybe mixing up something while the oven is pre-heating...while some of his girl friends (okay la maybe guy friends also) are chatting away in our living room... :P

Kalau I tak bagi dia bake kan Zan, dia macam resah. Restless. Macam baking tu de-stresser dia lah (aikk budak belum 9 tahun pun nak de-stress ke LOL). Dulu2 I bengang sebab sepah. Lepas tu sikit sikit dia kemas. Skrg ni semua bekas2 baking dia akan basuh sendiri. Walaupun ada yg kdg2 kurang bersih, tapi effort dia tu, I appreciate jugak :)

Eza, kalau scrambler dia tak kena curi, mesti dia still round2 kat our neighbourhood ni hehheh..he's still active, but baking is also one of his interests since last year. Kalau I suruh tuliskan grocery shopping list, ada je "butter, flour, choc chips..." ha haaa
